An Interview is your chance and opportunity to prove your abilities and showcase your potential. Who wants an interview to be filled with verbal blunders and be a nerve wracking experience? Lets follow a few quick tips to optimize your chances of interview success and become the cream of the crop.
Ø Always bring extra copies of Resume.
Ø Sit only when you are asked to not before
Ø Keep all your loose items on the floor next to your seat not on the interviewer’s table.
Ø Always keep a positive and a friendly attitude. A positive attitude will naturally relax you, make you smile and make you more confident and appealing.
Ø First impressions count, so as soon as the interviewer approaches you, ensure you come across as professional and courteous. Stand up straight, smile, make eye contact and extend your hand.
Ø Make sure to always sit upright and be open with your body posture.
Ø Speak clearly, at a normal pace. And remember to breathe – both in and out.
Ø Stick with a factual but an interested tone. Avoid raising the pitch of your voice at the end of the statement.
Ø Use clear and concise language. Speak slowly and carefully to make sure your words are being understood.
Ø Avoid using poor grammar, bad language, slang, and pause words (such as “like,” “uh,” and “um”).
Ø Keep eye contact with the interviewer during the interviewer.
Ø If there is more than one interviewer in the room, direct your answer mostly to the person who asked the question. But make sure to have eye contact with each person at some point.
Ø When you are answering questions, do focus on what you can do for the company rather than what the company can do for you.
Ø Sit patiently and listen what they have to say.
Ø Just be in the moment and trust yourself.
Ø Always wait for your turn to speak. Do not interrupt the interviewer.
Ø Be honest. Never embellish your past accomplishments or claim a skill you do not have.
Ø If you do not know a particular skill. Tell the truth and always say that you are eager to learn.
Ø Even if an interview question could be answered with a simple “yes” or “no”, you want to be sure to say more.
Ø Use gestures to convey your point which shows that you are passionate about what you are talking.
Ø Avoid touching your face and hair as it distracts the interviewer.
Ø Make sure you provide true details about your previous employment or achievements.
