In the beginning of his career, he was a struggling actor in every definition but he had already prepared himself for fighting back.
He went through enormous difficulties in his life but he never gave up. He even ended up homeless and was sleeping at the New Jersey Bus Terminal for three weeks. Things got so bad that he spend many days without food.He had to sell his loyal companion, his dog to a stranger at liquor store for $25 because he didn’t have the money to feed his dog.
Sylvester had a dream to become an actor, but people laughed at him. You know why he had such a unique expression and speak differently?
He was born paralysed in the lower left part of his face because of this his, speech was slurred. Everybody rejected him because of his disability.
During his hard times, he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner. For there, he got an idea why not to screen play this. So he began to write a script for a movie. He didn’t sleep for the whole weekend and banged out the script in 20 hours!
He tried to sell the script to the producers and he got an offer of $125,000 straight away for the script. But he wanted to STAR in the movie, he wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. The studio refused him and said that he, “Looked Funny and talked funny.”
Few weeks later they offered him $325,000, they want his movie script but didn’t want to consider him in it, therefore he still refused their proposal, he had to be in that movie.
Eventually, the producers agreed, they let him act in the movie but only paid him $35,000.
You know, the name of that movie was- Rocky
The Blockbuster movie- Rocky. It earned $225 million in global box office. The movie won three Oscar awards for the Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Film Editing.
And Sylvester Stallone’s name was nominated for the BEST ACTOR.
After getting those $35,000, he brought his DOG back!
